Hi @GaryB22 , welcome to the HP Forums. I understand your new battery will not charge. All available troubleshooting is available in this document:
Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge
It should help you determine if the battery is at fault, or something else is causing this issue. If you replaced your previous battery for the same behavior, it is likely that the battery is not at fault.
I hope this helps.

This nuisance is a real pain in the ass... I've spent eleven hours so far on the problem... My wife's HP G72. I've read at least 25 'How to' fixes and have tried several... all to no avail...
The real interesting thing, I tried removing the battery while up and running... reinstalled the battery and Viola! It worked and was charging... Then up jumps the devil... the battery wasn't inserted snuggly, and it fell out... when I reinstalled the battery, it was NOT CHARGING again... interesting that method worked once...
I've bought 'Pareto Logic' software ($40) that claimed they will fix it... NOT!... Staples sold me a new cord ($64)... I haven't taken that out of the package, b/c if used (opened), it cannot be returned...
This problem has been around SIX years, and there isn't a cohesive fix? Someone is yanking our chain seeing how much OEM equipment we'll buy trying to fix this bug... ANYBODY AT HP GIVE A **bleep**?

I'm in the device manager, and expanded for battery. However, I can not find the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery to right click on. Only option I see is "battery". When I right click on that, only option is scan, or properties. Neither of these gives me the option to uninstall. Help please

Well, sorry I forgot to explain quickly after I (seemed to) fixed the problem...
Not sure this is what fixed my problem, but I crimped the AC connector cord's plug so it was make a real tight fit... I followed the shut down start up method above and I finally saw the idiot light showing Orange... not the usual blue/white. I checked the battery and it was charging... It has been working fine now ever since.
I returned the cord Staples sold me b/c I thought it hype I was getting from the salesman...(never opened it b/c you can't return electrical parts)
I wasted money buying that "Registry" fixer software... They claimed that their 'gee-wiz' software would fix my problem.
Sorry for my rant about trying to fix this issue... It would better serve the community that it is 100% normal for the battery indicator to say "Battery cable inserted, not charging" b/c it seems to be a random occurance when you are running on 'hose power' (not battery alone) and my battery goes anywhere from 20-99% full... makes no difference, power is coming from the AC cord... hope this is clear.

Just bought a new HP G2 355. The battery indicator on the screen doesn't pulse when plugged in. I have tried unplugging and replugging with results being it will pulse for a few seconds. I have tried two different AC adapters and that has no effect. Can anyone give me some info on this problem?

Hi David,
I followed all the steps on this fix and my laptop still will not charge while turned on. It won't even recognize that the AC adapter is plugged in when I do the system battery status check, the battery checks out OK. I have tried 2 new adapters and still no joy. Do you have any suggestions at this point? I have an ENVY 17 running Windows 10.
Thanks.
