Help !! I recently upgraded the ram and moved to an SSD on a 15-bs115dx and everything was running great. The last thing that I did was attempt to update the bios to version F.71 Rev.A as per this link https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-15-bs100-laptop-pc/16851388/model/2035....

Everything seemed to update OK and when the machine rebooted I was only able to get to a black screen and after opening it up I can see that the fan is spinning but nothing else is happening. After searching for people with similar problems, i found links from HP and also on YouTube that talk about the process to go back to an earlier version of the bios using a usb recovery drive with an older version of the firmware and pressing the windows key + B or V (or B or V alone) but nothing seems to work with this model.

As per this post, it looks like other people have also had the same issue with this laptop model but they were unable to get it resolved - https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Bios-update-failed/td-p/7205082

I have been working on computers for years and have done bios updates many times and this has never happened before. Please let me know what I am missing in order to get this machine to work again.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I had already tried everything from that link but nothing seems to work. Everything was working great on the laptop until attempting to upgrade to the latest bios. Looking in the forum it appears that this has happened before with the same laptop model and there does not appear to be any resolution. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me and it is very disappointing that there is no existing resolution from HP given that this was the result of a bios upgrade that came directly from HP.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
