HP Notebook - 15-bs289wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I ran the HP Update Assistance and it did a Bios update. After the update the laptop boots up to a black screen. I've researched the problem and followed the steps listed here https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 about creating a bios recovery drive. I've done this and ran the bios update and it completes but issue still persists. I'm still able to get into recovery mode and into the bios but Windows does not show up.

Hi @emoney23

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "No Boot" issue.

Appreciate you trying the steps to recover the BIOS.

As the issue still persists, I'd suggest you try to recover the PC using the HP Cloud Recovery - HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

And what about the license? The old system was only on the recovery partition and I have no recovery media.

@emoney23

Try the above steps to re-install the operating system and if the windows is not automatically activated, try these steps - HP PCs - Windows 10 Product Activation

"On new machines the product key is stored in BIOs and is used automatically by the Windows when connected to the Internet. In Windows 10 hardware activation is used. Your Windows 10 will be automatically activated until you don't make changes to the Hardware"
