OMEN by HP - 15-dc0024nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everybody!
After removing my lithium battery (that was a swollen lithium-ion battery, serious and unpredictable issue because this battery has just 465/1000 charge cycles, but this is not the point of my topic), my OMEN laptop, once started, shows a black screen where's said "The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS setup options to see if they change. CMOS Reset (502)
ENTER - Reboot the system".
Once pressed ENTER button, my laptop starts working as nothing happened, even after restarting twice during my work day, but today I faced this same issue.
So what should I do in order to not let that black screen appear again?
Is there any link with the fact that I removed the battery (I had to do it because it's extremely dangerous and it's so hard to find an original replacement)?
Thanks for helping me.

Hi everybody, noted that there isn't any CR2032 battery, that the internal clock is powered by main laptop battery and that I didn't receive any answer from support in 2 days, I say that my problem is solved by replacing old battery of my laptop, so no CMOS Reset (502) black screen has been displayed anymore.. Additionally in my case there was no need to switch from a HDD to a SSD like suggested before.
However due to the battery replacement I have another issue that it's not linked to this thread, so this topic can be closed.

Hello @Francesca5

(1) Enter BIOS > Load Setup Defaults, Save and Exit

(2) Shutdown

(3) Start again

(4) If you still have CMOS Reset Error => Check/replace CMOS battery (CR2032).

Hello @ub6424, thanks for your suggestion.
Yesterday I followed the steps above and it worked, even after rebooting the system 2-3 times.
Unfortunately this morning the black screen appeared again.
Here's described what happened: once tapping on Power button, the laptop shuts down after few seconds, then the power button starts blinking and finally here it's the black screen.
Is it a BIOS battery issue or is it a problem due to the removal battery?

Hello @Francesca5

Please follow these steps exactly

(1) Plugin Power Charger !

(2) Update BIOS

(3) Go to Advanced Power Options and set Sleep to Never. Then enable Hibernate to an interval that works for you or hibernate from the Start button on demand.

See:

(5) Test again

Thanks again @Ub6424 .
Is it mandatory to enable Hibernate?
I disabled Hibernate option on my laptop because (if I remember well) my laptop was too slow to shut down.

No, not mandatory, you can skip this 😊

Thanks again. I followed all the steps you suggested except the Hibernation step. Let's wait for tomorrow, generally  the black screen appears if I turn my laptop off for 7/8 hours.
I'll bring you up to date about my situation, thank you!

Hello @Ub6424 ,
unfortunately the black screen appears again.
I shutted down my laptop at 23:30, then I turned it on this morning at 10 AM.
So the last thing to do is the CMOS battery removal, isn't it?

I followed all the steps, I ran these tests:
Symptoms Test > 1 (black screen) > One Execution > Passed
System test > All the steps have been PASSED

Component test > I tested everything but not keyboard, audio, mouse/trackpad and all the components that are 100% working. All test have been flagged as PASSED.

The only test not performed is the Battery Test, totally useless because I removed the battery due to my fear of explosion.
What can I do next?
