I have a laptop HP17-cn0076nr, product number 62U65UA#ABA, system board ID: 883E, BIOS version: F.31, that stopped booting up.  It seems the m.2 driver is not reading, I took out the driver and put it on an external USB reader and I can see all the files, bought a new 1tb m.2 driver, install but it won't show on the BIOS, tried loading using a separate USB stick loaded drivers for the laptop from HP and it still won't see the new or the old driver when trying to reinstall Windows 11.

So I was able to install the HP recovery on the empty HDD SSD slot and plugged the original m.2. driver to an external USB case and accessed all the files on the original drive.

You made a typo in the product number.

Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook:

If you are having issues loading the Intel storage controller drivers, your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reset the drive to its 'out of the box' condition.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the software on another PC as yours is not working, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.

Your PC's product number is 63U65UA#ABA

Thanks for the reply, you are correct I made a type.  I did find my product on the HP website, I have successfully created a USB drive with HP cloud recovery but my m.2 SSD doesn't show, not the old one or the new one (I bought a 1TB one).  I also tried installing Windows 11 from a bootable USB and it doesn't read the m.2 driver, I've tried loading the drivers I downloaded from the HP site from another USB and nothing, it won't load the correct drivers.  Can you tell me which are the correct drivers for my laptop?  None of the ones I have tried have worked.  Thanks!

You're very welcome.

I'm surprised the cloud recovery tool image does not contain the storage controller drivers already.

I don't know if the cloud recovery tool gives you the option to load the required Intel storage controller drivers or not, but if it does, see if this works:

I have zipped up and attached those drivers, below.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

If not, you should be able to do this with the W11 installation flash drive you make using the Microsoft media creation tool.

So I tried the files suggested and still it doesn't load the drivers.   I tried all of them and nothing, not sure what is the issue.

I tried hitting refresh and still only shows the USB drive.

Unfortunately,  I don't know what the problem is either, and am out of ideas.

Your model comes with an Intel Pentium Silver which doesn't support Optane/Intel VMD features. IRST drivers you used are for notebooks with Intel Core processors.

A Windows installation usb drive contains Windows native drivers for M.2 NVMe SSDs. I don't know why the Windows installer can't use those drivers. I guess something is preventing the setup from seeing the drivers.

My suggestion is: download the chipset driver from this link and run it as administrator.

HP Laptop 17-cn0076nr (63U65UA) Software and Driver Details

Go to C:\SWSetup\sp154090 and double click the folder then 'Driver' folder. Copy the 'dchu-CHIP' folder to the root directory of a Windows installation usb drive. Navigate to the folder after clicking on Load Driver.

Check the box to display compatible drivers only and see if storage driver files are displayed.

I don't know if this trick will work for you but you can try. . .

I will try to do this tonight.  Download the files and place that folder under root folder of the Win11 bootable USB.  When creating the recovery from the cloud, can I see which drivers are on that bootable USB?

I was also playing around last night and I was able to login to the computer when placing the original m.2 SSD in a USB case, and booting from USB, I logged into to Windows in safe mode, I was able to go to device manager.  Is there a way to load the m.2 drivers from here?

If I remember right, a cloud recovery usb drive consists of boot files and a lot of image files. I once tried to unpack one of them with 7-ZIP but wasn't successful. So, I don't think you can see what drivers the recovery usb drive contains.

Probably, chances are not very high that my suggestion will work.

If you are going to put the old SSD back in the system, I suggest running a hard drive test by hitting the F2 key repeatedly when the notebook is started. If the hard drive comes out healthy, you may be able to do something. . .
