Hello! I have an HP Stream 11-y010wm laptop that used to belong to my sister. She gave it to me, but neither of us remembers the BIOS administrator/power-on password.

After several incorrect attempts, the laptop displays “System Disabled” with code 71555058.

Is there a free, official way to recover or reset the BIOS password? I would really like to get the laptop working again without erasing any old pictures, videos, or files.

Thank you for your help!

Hello @Maya1234_567891 ,

Welcome to the HP community.

A quick community search for the terms BIOS & Password finds all these posts >here<, which are mainly closed.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

4d. No posts shall include instructions/directions intended to bypass or subvert security mechanisms such as lock screens, BitLockers, BIOS lock, passwords, fingerprint/biometry scanners, PINs, or any other safety measures.

Therefore, this topic is being locked.

Best regards
