Hi, I have a HP 15-AY013NA which I purchased second hand around 8 months ago,

 

It was working fine until the last week when the power button doesn't seem to work, If I keep pressing it sometimes it will work and the laptop starts, others - it's unresponsive, pressing the button harder doesn't seem to make any difference.

 

A couple of months back a message came up telling me the battery needs replacing - I've been using it off the mains since then and it's been booting fine, so I don't think the battery is causing the power button to not work all the time.

 

Has anyone else had this problem? any ideas what needs replacing?

@Lee-F If the power button is physically stuck or isn't working when you use it, this could be a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

 

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

 

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,
