Hello, so here's the story. I was working on my HP Laptop Model 14fq0040nr. I noticed it was at 16% and I was done with my work so I shut down my computer and plugged it in not thinking to look at the charger indicator light. I had gone to do something else and came back and noticed that the light was not on so, I opened the computer to turn it on and it did not power up. I have done lots of things. I have confirmed that the charger is fine and the outlet used was fine. I have removed the battery and held the power button for 60 seconds and put the battery back and nothing happen. At this point I don't believe it is a battery problem however it may be. This laptop is 1 year and a few months old. It is used on a daily basis just work, no huge software usage on the computer. I have had problems with the screen blacking out but then I did a factory reset and that fixed that problem till it slowly creeped back. That might have something to do with it. I'm not sure, that's why I'm here. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Hi @Simon232,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laptop Model 14fq0040nr won't turn on, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help you identify and potentially resolve the problem.
Check the Power Source:
- Make sure your laptop is connected to a working power source. Plug in the charger and ensure it's properly connected to both the laptop and a functioning electrical outlet.
Check for Indicator Lights:
- Look for any indicator lights on your laptop. Many laptops have LED lights near the power button or on the side that indicate whether the laptop is receiving power or charging. If you see these lights, it means the laptop is getting power.
Try a Different Charger:
- Sometimes the charger itself can be faulty. If you have access to another compatible charger, try using it to rule out a charger issue.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the charger and any peripherals (such as external drives or mice).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds. This will drain any residual power from the laptop.
- Reconnect the charger and try turning on the laptop.
Check the Screen:
- It's possible that the laptop is turning on, but the screen isn't displaying anything. Shine a flashlight on the screen and look closely to see if there's any faint image or text. If you see something, it could be a backlight or display issue.
External Display:
- If you have access to an external monitor, connect your laptop to it using the appropriate cable. If you see the display on the external monitor, it may indicate a problem with your laptop's built-in display.
Reseat or Replace the Battery:
- If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then reinserting it. If it doesn't, you may need to contact HP support or a technician for assistance.
Check for Signs of Physical Damage:
- Inspect your laptop for any physical damage, such as a cracked screen, loose connectors, or visible damage to the motherboard.
Memory and Storage Check:
- If you're comfortable doing so, you can try reseating the RAM and storage drive (if it's accessible). Sometimes loose or improperly seated components can prevent a laptop from turning on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
