HP Pavilion Notebook - 17z-g000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop (HP Pavilion 17z-g000 (Touch) - K8Z00AV) started boot-looping with the ACPI BIOS Error after a Windows Update

I've tried to locate a Suitable BIOS Update to hopefully resolve the Issue, but I can't find one that works (I got one to get to the Installation Stage, but it gave a "Unable to open BIOS Signature file" Error, which I assume is because it's the wrong BIOS File)

I have also tied Reseating/Replacing the RAM, Reinstalling Windows on the SSD using another PC, Resetting/Reconfiguring all BIOS Settings to no avail

I cannot access any Windows Startup/Recovery Tools as those cause the Error to show up as well

I would appreciate any help, info, and possible a BIOS Update file if there's one available

Laptop Info:
 - Product Name: HP Pavilion Notebook
 - Product Number: K8Z00AV
 - System Board ID: 80B0
 - BIOS Version: F.54
 - Processor Type: AMD A10-8700P

@SyndiShanX, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

We understand that you're encountering an ACPI BIOS ERROR after a Windows update, which causes a boot loop. You've already tried:

  • Reseating/replacing RAM
  • Reinstalling Windows externally
  • Resetting BIOS settings
  • Attempting BIOS update (but received a "Unable to open BIOS Signature file" error)

Recommended Steps to Resolve

Confirm BIOS Version and Compatibility

Your current BIOS version is F.54, and your system board ID is 80B0. The correct BIOS update must match both the Product Number (K8Z00AV) and System Board ID.

Go to the official HP BIOS download page for your model: Official HP® Support

  • Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as the OS.
  • Expand the BIOS section.
  • Download the latest BIOS version that matches System Board ID: 80B0.

If the BIOS installer throws a signature error, it likely means the file is not compatible with your board. Double-check the board ID and product number.

Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive

Since you can't boot into Windows or Recovery:

  1. On another working PC, download the BIOS update .exe file from the HP site.
  2. Run the file and choose "Create Recovery USB" when prompted.
  3. Insert a USB drive (at least 1GB), and let the tool create the BIOS recovery media.

Perform BIOS Recovery

  1. Insert the USB into your affected laptop.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  3. Release the Power button but continue holding Windows + B until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions to reflash the BIOS.

Clear CMOS (Optional but Recommended)

If BIOS recovery fails:

  • Disconnect AC power and battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect and try powering on again.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

That’s not an option as my laptop is around 10 years old so HP removed all software from their support site

I'm having the same issue with the same model.  Where can I get a valid BIOS .bin file to recover to?

If your notebook has a TPM setting in the BIOS, change the setting to disabled/hidden.
