I am the original owner of an HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14m-dy0033dx, purchased from Best Buy several years ago.

When the computer starts, it displays:

“Enter Administrator Password or Power-On Password”

After three unsuccessful attempts, it displays:

“System Disabled i 75052292”

I completed the Windows + V CMOS reset. The computer displayed a CMOS checksum error and reset to its default configuration, but the password prompt still appears after restarting.

Can an HP Community expert advise whether this model supports an authorized reset-key or BIOS password recovery procedure?

Hi,

A CMOS reset will not normally remove a BIOS Administrator Password or Power-On Password. It can reset some BIOS/CMOS settings, which is why you saw the CMOS checksum/default configuration message, but the password prompt can remain because it is stored as a security feature.

For HP consumer notebooks, HP states that after three incorrect password attempts the notebook may generate a code, and the official step is to contact HP Customer Support with that generated code. The community should not provide password reset keys or bypass methods.

HP BIOS setup/password information:

HP CMOS reset information:

My recommendation:

  1. Do not post your serial number or proof of purchase publicly.
  2. Contact HP Support directly.
  3. Provide proof of ownership and the generated System Disabled code privately to HP Support.
  4. Ask HP whether your exact model, HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14m-dy0033dx, supports an authorized password recovery procedure.
  5. If HP says this model cannot be unlocked by support procedure, then service may be required.

I would avoid unofficial reset-key websites or tools, because they are not HP-supported and could be unsafe.

Hello @helpmeplz15 ,

Welcome to the HP community.

A quick community search for the terms BIOS & Password finds all these posts >here<, which are mainly closed.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

4d. No posts shall include instructions/directions intended to bypass or subvert security mechanisms such as lock screens, BitLockers, BIOS lock, passwords, fingerprint/biometry scanners, PINs, or any other safety measures.

Therefore, this topic is being locked.

Best regards
