HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

8 months out of manufacture warranty for Hp Spectre and I am watching a lecture for virtual schooling, laptop has been great with no problems the entire time. Suddenly, the video freezes and the entire system shuts down.  I assume this is an easy fix of pressing the power button and turning it back on, but instead I only see caps lock blinking 5 times slowly and 4 times fast.

Turns out this is a problem with the motherboard and this particular model has everything, including the hard drive with all my notes for a test I am taking in 3 days(grad school test worth 33% of the grade in a 4 credit class too)

I skip my next class and rush over to a HP certified repair company, that was luckily only 15minutes away, to see if they can get this thing back up and running.  They say it'll be 5 days before they can diagnose and fix it, longer than I hoped, but now I just want to get it repaired.  It has been a great laptop that still feels new because I've made sure to keep it in perfect condition, plus the accessories(bag, mouse, extra charger) so I'm not looking forward to getting a new one.

I buy the newer version from best buy, redo my notes, take my test, make an A.

Still haven't heard back from the guys looking at it, so I call and it turns out the HP repair guys can't repair or really do anything with it....

This is a very expensive laptop and I would like to know, is this completely worthless now?  I've always talked up this laptop to friends and I understand things break, but this is way too soon to have a complete breakdown without a repair available.  Are there any refunds available or even credits towards upgrading(I just paid $1700 for the newest version)?

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done, or even if you don't think I have a reason to expect anything from HP(remember that their warranty was expired by 8 months, almost a full year).
