Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
That sounds incredibly stressful — especially when your system went from a simple freeze to repeated BIOS recovery loops. The way you’ve described it — crashing mid-game, then failing both Windows recovery and BIOS self-repair — points to either a corrupted BIOS firmware or a deeper fault in the system board that’s preventing the firmware from being rewritten correctly.
Let’s try structured recovery steps before considering hardware service:
1. Perform an Embedded BIOS Recovery
Your Victus 15 supports a built-in BIOS recovery feature. Try this carefully:
Power the laptop completely off.
Press and hold the Windows key + B key (sometimes Windows key + V also works).
While holding them, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds, then release the Power button but keep holding the keys for ~10–15 seconds.
You should hear beeps or see the screen light up with a BIOS recovery prompt.
If prompted, follow on-screen steps to reload the BIOS.
Reference: HP BIOS Recovery (Windows 10, 11)
2. Try USB BIOS Recovery
If the embedded recovery keeps stalling:
On another PC, download the latest BIOS for your exact model from HP Software & Drivers.
Run the installer, but choose “Create Recovery USB” instead of updating the BIOS directly.
Insert that USB stick into your Victus.
Boot with Windows + B (or V) held down, and it should pick up the BIOS image from the USB.
3. Rule Out Power/CMOS Issues
Disconnect power and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge.
If accessible, reseat the battery and RAM sticks.
Plug back in and retry recovery.
4. If recovery still fails
If both embedded and USB BIOS recovery stall at the “recovering BIOS” stage, that usually means the firmware chip on the motherboard isn’t accepting the rewrite fully. At that point, the only resolution is usually system board service (replacement of the BIOS chip or the entire board).
Given what you’ve tried already, it’s clear you’ve been very thorough. If recovery doesn’t take, the safest next step is to contact HP repair so the system board can be evaluated.
