My hp laptop, less than 5 years old, won't turn on. Before this happened, Everytime I used it, the fan was really loud and it would overheat just from being on my lap. Now when I press the power button, the wireless light is the only one that lights up - no sounds or lights otherwise. The indicator light when it's plugged in is a solid white.

I've removed the battery, took out power plug, held down power button, and no luck. I ordered a new battery and had the same luck.

Please help! No clue the technical type if laptop it is, as it won't turn on to know. .the battery was a GU06 if that helps

Hi there @Lsmith123,

First and foremost, I want to welcome you to the HP Support Forums! Here at the forums, you have many community members that will help you toward a solution.

Please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please make sure that you do not have any external devices connected (mouse, keyboard, usb devices, etc.) as these can cause issues.

If there is no noise from the computer case or fans, the lights on the computer do not illuminate (including keyboard LEDs), and the screen is not receiving a video signal, your computer might not be receiving power. As you have already replaced the battery, another option for you may be to follow the troubleshooting steps in the Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge document to troubleshoot the notebook power supply.

I know that you have already tried performing a hard reset but could you please try again?

Are you using the AC power adapter that came with the computer?

Did you receive any error messages before this happened?

Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights (for example on the Caps Lock or Num lock)?

Have you done a BIOS reset?

I would like to provide you with a document called Computer Does Not Start. In this document, you will find the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the questions above.

If this reply resolves your issue, please share the good news! Let others know this reply was helpful by clicking the Accept as Solution button at the bottom of this post.

I have performed a hard reset twice, and still nothing. When I switched the power cord to the wall outlet, the white indicator light changed to a solid orange, but that only lasted a few minutes, it's back to a solid white now. I have done all of the troubleshooting options mentioned - but I still have no lights or noise when I press the power button.

To answer your questions:
Are you using the AC power adapter that came with the computer?NO
Did you receive any error messages before this happened? No
Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights (for example on the Caps Lock or Num lock)? NO
Have you done a BIOS reset?YES didn't work, no screen came up

I took off the back cover to look at things, and the metal parts are copper/orange looking, I would almost say it's slightly burned. At what point would it be a fan replacement or motherboard replacement for my laptop?

My model # is AR5B125...please tell me that there is a recall on this computer!!!

Hey @Lsmith123

Thank you very much for getting back to me with all of the results of the troubleshooting and that you have an HP Pavilion g6-2210us Notebook PC.

Do you still have the adapter that came with the Notebook?

What is the wattage on the AC Power adapter that you are trying to use?

I understand that the steps did not work for you and that you are still seeking a solution. In the computer does not receive power (no noise or lights) section of the Computer Does Not Start document, there are sections that help you test both the AC Power Adapter and the Battery. Did you happen to try these steps? If not, please follow the steps. You will see this chart:

battery.PNG

In the end, if the AC adapter and battery tests both result in the LEDs not glowing and the fan and hard drive not spinning, there might be an issue with the system board, which could require service. If that becomes the case, please use the following link to create yourself a case number:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

I hope this helps!

Have a great day!
