Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Laptop was being used be someone else when it locked up.  Was told it just quit.  Now it comes up asking to sign in so windows can update and then it kick off to  INSTALL WINDOWS   "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

 

 It just keeps repeating the same thing over and over.  

 

What do I do to correct the problem?

Have you tried tapping F11 immediately after powering on to see if you can boot into Recovery to reinstall Windows. Follow the troubleshooter here:
