Hi,

I bought 2nd hand this HP EliteBook 840 G1 laptop* a few years back for my son.

I installed a Linux distribution and set up a multiboot with Windows. But now it says "Boot device not found" at startup. So, I'd like to turn off the secure boot. And for this, I need to access the BIOS. But I don't remember the password.

From what I read here https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Lost-BIOS-password-Elitebook-840-G1/m-p/56702..., this is a pro machine and I would need a customised SMC to unlock it.

Could you help, please? Is there an HP support person that could send me this code?

Thank you.
