I'm having the same problem but a little diff. I noticed that the support has said to replace the hdd and that is what I have done with a Windows 8.1 drive and I took a step further to test and see if my hdd is really not usable. I placed it in another comupter that was also running Windows 8.1. It worked but my origianl computer still doesn't, it still says "no harddrive detected". What the heck!!!

think that at this point, the best thing for you to do is call us. It might be that the computer is just shy of a year and is still in warranty. What ever the case, a phone support professional can certainly discuss your options with you.
What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.

Hey @Malaak, welcome to the HP Forums!
I found something I think might help you with the boot error you are seeing. I understand the notebook cannot detect the hard drive and you have already tried putting the hard drive in a second computer and it was detected. Please complete all of the suggested solution presented in the following document and let me know the outcome of your efforts: HP Notebook PCs - Boot Device Not Found Error or Hard Drive Not Detected.
If this helps you to resolve the issue, please be sure to mark your post as solved by clicking the Accept as Solution button below.
Thanks.

I would like to say this helped but at present when I tried the hard reset the computer no longer comes on, it just gives me a beeping error for the Bios. I have tried both the solutions for this error with no result. I was told all this is due to my hdd but as I told you it works fine in another computer. To top that, because of this I can't create the one time restoration disc needed to get it repaired, Microsoft says they no longer carry windows 8.1 and all the computer repair places tell me tha if I have tried all your error solutions and it will not show anything on the screen, there is nothing they can do in order to get the restoration discs. I've only had this computer for a year (exactly), I've been really careful with it and have always run Norton scans for viruses and such. I can't help but feel like I've somehow been screwed. I'm told that if I send it in fr repairs it will get a generic version of Windows. I'm npt sure what that means though. Can somebody tell me that?
