Windows 7 (org. system) was running fast and good.
Upgraded to 10 and after a few reboots it was installed and working.
every time I boot from cold the blue windows logo appears and the machine goes into black/gray screen.
It stays this way for at least 1 minute and then the login screen appears. All drivers are updated/installed.
I tried to make a clean install of windows 10 x64 and it installed well and restarted.
This time it was much faster (a few seconds) And I went into device manager.
I could see that Windows installed drivers for the different devices as the unknown devices dissapeared one by one.
Some time after (with 1 remaining unknown device not related to the problem) it will restart.
Now I'm back to the black/gray screen again every time I restart.
I hope the description of this issue is understandable
I have upgraded the harddrive to an Intel SSD-disk 120GB and second disc with a brand new 1000GB drive
Specs:
CPU: i7 2670QM@2.20GHz
Ram: 8GB DDR 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
MB: HP 1803
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 + ATI Radeo HD 6700M
Storage: INTEL SSDSA2CW120G3 (SSD) +Hitachi HGST HTS541010A9E680 (SATA)
Audio: IDT HD Audio
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Temperatures: CPU: 49-51 degr. Motherboard: 51-52 degr. storage: 32 degr.
Hopefully someone can come up with some ideas
PS.: I am not a newb 🙂

You have come to the right place to ask questions, find solutions and get help from others in the community! I read your post on the HP Support Forums and wanted to reach out to you. Please let me know if I answered your question by clicking the 'Thumbs up' button on this post.
To paraphrase, you had mentioned that you upgraded your HP Pavilion dv7-6c75eo Entertainment Notebook PC to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and you are now receiving a black/gray screen for a minute before your login screen appears.
Have you tried performing a hard reset?
Do you receive any error messages?
Have you done a BIOS reset?
Have you tried to do a Hardware Test?
Have you tried to see if you get the black screen when booting into Safe Mode?
Have you tried to run the power troubleshooter?
Have you tried doing Windows Updates?
Have you tried to disable Fast Startup?
Have you tried doing updates using the HP Support Assistant? Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase or that need updating.
When looking for drivers, I did notice that there are currently no drivers available for Windows 10 on the HP Pavilion dv7-6c75eo Entertainment Notebook PC Software and Drivers page.
Although the screen does come up eventually, there is a document called Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot that may have some troubleshooting steps that will help you diagnose the issue. If that does not work, it could be an issue with the display itself. Here is a document called Resolving Problems with Notebook Display.
While researching, I also found another document for you from Microsoft called Troubleshoot black screen problems.

Its fast booting just until the amd driver is installed no matter witch one.
I have now made a clean install of win7 again and it starts in 17 seconds. Windows10 took about 90.
Clearly the correct amd driver is missing for win10.
My search for the issue tells me that this is a known problem.

Hey @carstengp,
Given that right now Windows 10 drivers are not available for your Notebook and Windows 10. I would have to agree with you on the solutions. However, please keep checking back if you want to upgrade again to Windows 10. That way you will know when the driver's become available.

This was the solution for me!
Introduction
Why would you want to Disable ULPS? If you have two AMD card's in crossfire, it probably has ULPS enabled. ULPS disables the second GPU when not in use. This is alright but sometimes it causes issues in overclocking and/or playing certain games. It can also cause other problems do for troubleshooting purposes, it is recommended to disable ULPS.
Step 1
Go to the registry by typing "regedit" in windows search.
Step 2
Go to the "Edit" tab and click on "Find".
Step 3
In the text box type in "EnableULPS" and then press Find.
Step 4
You should see "EnableULPS". Double click on it.
Step 5
Change the value from "1" to "0"
Recap
ULPS should now be disabled. Although you can opt to disable it in Afterburner and Catalyst Control Center, it often gets turned back on after an update and so doing this is more efficient.
