Can you login to the Admin account -- the one with the password you set?

IF not, is there another account you can login to?

Hi, yes I can login in to the admin of the laptop, but not in to the operating system, Windows 8. The laptop belongs to my step daughter who has moved out, leaving it behind, because she's forgotten the password to get in to it AND the password for the email account/address she set it up with. I don't have the disk to reinstall Windows, I tried convincing Microsoft I wasn't a hacker and they turned me down and I've tried rebooting it with password recovery software, and couldn't get that to work either. While I was fiddling around in the BIOS I set up the admin password - which was really dumb. Seems my only option now is to take the whole thing apart. So I think I'll take it to a computer fix it person!

Have you tried doing a System Recovery on it to start fresh with no user account?

The computer fix-it person should be able to help you do something we are not permitted to assist in -- bypassing passwords.

If they can do that, you will either be able to login with an existing account, or you will be able to create a new account and use that.

I would take the laptop to the fix-it person.

Good Luck
