Pavilion 15-P239SA SIL
Hi,

My laptop just switched itself off, having just been charged. Now the start button flashes periodically and at the same time there is a clicking sound. Like it is trying to start up. I took the battery out and tried with just the power cable and the same thing happened. I bought it in May 2015.

Should I take it back to where I bought it from or can you help at all?

Cheers

Mary

@Mihillier

Thank you for posting on HP Forums, MKazi is at your service.

I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that your HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p239sa no longers powers on. The power button light keeps blinking and there is a clicking noise appearing. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

Please perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power on the laptop.

If the issue still persists then the evidence points towards an internal failure. The clicking noise could be from the hard drive of the laptop. It would be a good idea to reach out to our HP phone support and check the available service options.

I sincerely hope this information helps. Feel free to keep me posted for any further questions.

Good luck! 🙂
