Hi
I just got a new internal hard drive because about a week ago my laptop was running slow and freezing so I did a full refresh putting the laptop back to factory settings, then a few days ago I got the black screen of death I ran BIOS hard drive test and it told me short DST failed leading me to conclude the hard drive failed. To get to the point have a deleted a boot device, how do I get my laptop to recognise my new hard drive
Thanks in advance

The easiest way to install is from an HP recovery disk....it has all the drivers and apps and such. If you did not make a recovery set when the laptop was new (very few people do apparently) then you will have to order it from HP. It costs $30-40. We can also try to walk you through a clean install from downloadable Microsoft media but that is a fairly complex technical task.

Its a HP pavilion 15 notebook, its weird before posting a BIOS hard drive test showed no hard drive at all, after posting I did another BIOS test and both hard drive tests passed but still the same message when I try to start up normal, is it possible that I have to download something on the hard drive or something like that

I am sensing that, for you, the recovery disk is the way to go. But if you are in a hurry we can try to walk you through the clean install route.
