This issue returns in Windows 10 and this 'fix' does not work.

Hi,

Just wanted to provide a recent update.  I have an HP Split 13 - m010dx (running Win 10) and this solution worked for me.  THANK YOU!!

This problem has been plaguing me for some time and I didn't attribute it to being a synaptic problem so it took a while before I found this thread.  My symptoms were that the synaptic pad and/or my bluetooth mouse would become possessed.  I would see circles popping up on the screen and whenever i moved the mouse it was as if someone took control and not only moved the pointer somewhere else but it appeared like someone was clicking the mouse. The actions were so quick I couldn't get control long enough to shut down the laptop.  Had to do a hard shutdown each time to regain control.  One note.  I had 3 Generic USB hub entries that I to make the change on.

As mentioned on page one of this post:

"Open windows Control Panel and open Device Manager.  Expand ‘Universal Serial Bus controllers’ and you should find 2 entries for ‘Generic USB Hub’.  Right click the 1st one and select Properties, then select the Power Management tab and remove the tick from the box ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’.  Click Ok to save this setting.

Do the same for the 2nd ‘Generic USB Hub.

When done, restart the notebook."

This seems to help some people, but not all.

My issue returned after shutting the system down for awhile.  Oddly enough, when you have the issue upon starting up the system.  Go to Safely remove and eject media on the task bar, and Eject Docking  Station.   Remove the "Tablet" for a few seconds and redock it.  The problem goes away, but usually returns.

This morning after 6 hours of sleep, I started up the system and the issue was gone.  I have a couple other tricks up my sleeve to try.  I will return after I try them.

Don't ask me why,  but a combination of the prior posts of mine:

"Expand ‘Universal Serial Bus controllers’ and you should find 2 entries for ‘Generic USB Hub"

"Starting up in safe mode, then shut down"

"Safely remove and eject media on the task bar, and Eject Docking  Station.   Remove the "Tablet" for a few seconds and redock it."

These three things combined FOR ME, seems to have done it.  I will check in later today, and tmorrow morning and see if it is an answer.

God Bless,

Don

This solution never worked for me either. What do I do now to fix the problem? The touchpad doesn't work 95% of the time. It sometimes works on my log-in screen and then as soon as I log-in it stops working. So frustrating!
