15-AY009DX

Just baught this from bestbuy today for 222 dollars including tax open box and with my old tradein.

Not a bad deal.  But slightly slugish.

According to this page 53 looks easy enough to unscrew open the back cover and replace the ram and hard drive.  6gb is probably enough.  But an ssd would help alot.

Would it void the warantee if I replaced the ram or hard drive.  Or only if I goof up.

And also what is a good program to run speed test on the hard drive and see how fast it is.  pcbenchmark does not seem to be offered any longer in the windows store.

SATA-3, by actually it doesn't matter. SATA-3 is reverse compatible with 2, 1.

Hi,

It will void warranty if you break something in the process of upgrade. So I'll definitely get help from certified HP technician to do the job.

Hi,

I always say warranty is a grey area. In this case, when doing the work yourself, if no problem later then no problem. If having problem down the track then warranty would be void.
