Microsoft says my Bitlocker is off.  How do I turn it on and do I have a TPM?  I have upgraded the BIOS with no problems.  then I downloaded alot of the software I lost when Windows ugraded me to 10.  lLike Cyberlink Power DVD, PhotoDirector and Movie Director and Youcam, Raelink Card Reader and MediaTeck Bluetooth.  I also download HP System Event Utility but where do I find it?  I am now having some problems with my browers, both Chrome and Exlorer.  Got a security message from Chrome that my computer is at risk.  I ran the OS troubleshooting and it say everything is OK.  What do I do?

Welcome back to HP Forums

I would like to help

To turn on Bit Locker, try these steps

  1. Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security.
  3. Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  4. Under BitLocker Drive Encryption, click Turn on BitLocker.

Yes your Notebook does have TPM (Trusted Platform Module ) and it's stored on the Motherboard

You can download the HP System Event Utility from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers. You will find it in the list under Solution - Software

I suggest you run a scan on your Notebook to check for Malwares.

Also reset both Google Chrome and Explorer. You can refer to this Links below

Chrome Reset: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en

IE Reset: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/17441/windows-internet-explorer-change-reset-settings

Hope this helps

Keep me posted if you need further assistance

Thank you and have a great day 😊

Okay Krazy Toad:

Thank you so much for answering my plea.  I did what you said but there is nothing under Security that says turn on bitlocker.   Let me tell you what it says in my system information report:  PCR7 Configuration:  Binding Not Possible; Kernal DMA Protection:  Off;   Virtualization based security: Not Enabled;  Device Encryption Support:  Reasons for failed automatic devices encryption:  TPM is not usuable, PCR7 binding is not supported, Hardware Security Test Interface Failed and Devices is not InstantGo.  Unallowed DMA capable bus/device(s) detected, TPM is not usuable.  So I have a sneaking suspicion I might have to turn it on in the BIOS?  What is my TPM version 1.2, 2.0?

Unfortunately my computer is not longer servicable.  So I just should have stayed in the community to see if anyone else has that problem and fixed it.  This is very disconcerting.  I feel like I am so vulnerable.  You would think that HP and Microsoft would get together and do something about such a thing.   Because Microsoft says it does not support encryption in Windows 10 Home.  Bullocks!
