15-ax225nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My  15-ax225nd has a Wide vision HD camera> I noticed, when using the cam, it is really grainy. I checked this forum and noticed many peaople complainging about this cam. Is this a budget cam and should i purchase a better cam, although adding a webcam at a laptop isnt the way it should be?

That is a budget cam. USB 2.0 and 720p x 30 fps. There was an optional 3D camera at 1080p. The camera image is 1280 x 720 or 1366 x 768 and your screen is full HD or 1920 x 1080 so the image from the camera gets stretched when displayed full screen. Looks pixelated and grainy. The pandemic has taught people that most laptop webcams are not great and you need to invest in a good external webcam for like $35 for videoconferences and such. You could also retrofit in the better internal webcam and its not super hard to do.

Many thanks for the reply. Can you advice me about replacing the infernal webcam?which one is thebetter one?

In reviewing the Service Manual unfortunately the "better" (3D) webcam would require a new bezel and cable, making an upgrade too costly and difficult to make sense. I think your only viable option for an upgraded webcam is a usb external one. Sorry.
