Good day all

I plan to upgrade my old laptop SSD which purchased in 2016, molde is: ay-038no.  it has

  • Intel® Core™ i5-6200U Dual Core Processor
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • ADATA 128 GB SSD

after checking the website(https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hP---Compaq/hp-15-ay038no)  , I understood my laptop supports the 2.5-inch internal SSD • SATA, so I bought a Samsung 870 EVO. But after I opened my laptop case, then I was surprised to see that I could not find a SATA port to connect the SSD. Please kindly refer to the attachments and thank you so much if someone can guide me on what to do.

Super thanks in advance. Highly appreciate for any comments.

Best Regards,

Hi:

You would have to find and buy the parts to add a 2.5" SATA SSD that are listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.

HP Notebook PC (Intel) * Models: 15-ay000 – 15-ay099 * Models: 15-ay100 – 15-ay199HP 250 G5 Notebook...

Hard drive brackets (HP 250/256 G5 models)   HP part #859515-001 (ETB)
                                                                                        HP part #859516-001 (non-ETB)

I have no idea what the meaning of ETB/non-ETB is.

Hard drive connector board                                                 HP part # 817878-001

Hard drive cable for use in HP Notebook PC models    HP part #855003-001

That will probably be easier said than done and I recommend that you install a larger capacity M.2 SATA SSD.

NVMe SSD's are not supported in the model series.

Chapter 6, page 61 has the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.
