Hi, @JuanBitu

I also add that while this is a peer-to-peer forum, and we don't work for or represent HP, it is doubtful that you will void the warranty by opening up the notebook as long as you don't break something in the process.

That is because if you look at chapter 5 of the service manual, upgrading the SSD or installing memory is a customer-authorized procedure.

Unfortunately, since no one has actually reported back to us regarding the actual existence of a second NVMe slot, we can't help you when we have no concrete evidence of two NVMe SSD slots being available.

We can only rely on manuals, specifications and feedback from other forum members here.

I recommend that you take the notebook back and buy one of the 16-wf0xxx models.

Then you will be 100% sure (and happy) it has two NVMe slots.

Hi:

The service manual indicates that your notebook has support for two M.2 NVMe SSD.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Look at the illustration in chapter 6, page 44, and you can see the locations of the two M.2 SSD's above the right and left sides of the battery.

If you watch the service teardown video, it also shows that there is support for two NVMe SSD's.

The part you want to watch starts at 4:05 into the video...

Thanks for answering. But from what I have seen, I think that the model that comes with two SSDs is the wf, and the wd is only for one. I would like someone to confirm this for me.

You're very welcome.

This specification link shows the specs for both models.

When you look down the page, some of the specs are one thing for the wd and another for the wf.

But on the drive specs, it just indicates dual drives are offered and my assumption is that would be for both models or they would have indicated one thing for the wd and another thing for the wf.

The only way you're going to get confirmation is to remove the bottom cover and have a look for yourself.

These is the only other discussions I could find on the subject.

None offer 100% confirmation as neither person replied back as to whether or not the information provided was correct.

thank you. I can't open it to check if it has one or two SSD slots since I would lose the warranty. I bought the wd0010 recently and I haven't even taken it out of the box because if it doesn't have two SSD slots I don't want it and I have to return it to the store. This is why it is very important for me to know exactly if a second SSD can be installed or not. How could I know?

Paul is 1,000,000% correct. HP's messy documentation raises more questions than it actually answers. It does however point to there probably being TWO (2) SSD slots.

HP Support, on the other hand, is NO help at all! If you take a look at the Q&A for the 16-wd model on the HP India Shop page, there are 4 questions on there being dual-storage or not, and these are the answers:

16-wd0770TX_QA1.jpg

16-wd0770TX_QA2.jpg

16-wd0770TX_QA3.jpg

16-wd0770TX_QA4.jpg

3 out of 4 answers state that there are DEFINITELY TWO slots, yet 1 answer -the most recent one- contradicts this and states that these systems have ONLY ONE slot!  🤣

There's also this Reddit post, where someone wanted to upgrade storage and replaced the original drive with a larger one. Usually when you have a second slot available, you leave the OS drive alone and just install the upgrade there.

I can verify that (as JuanBitu mentioned) the 16-wf systems have two ssd slots since this Notebookcheck review shows their motherboard as being that on the teardown video:

16-wf_mobo.jpg

Then there is this Youtube review of the series that shows a completely different motherboard pic -a single slot one:

16-wd_mobo_questionable.jpg

So how many m.2 slots do the cheaper 16-wd000 laptops have? Right now it's really anyone's guess...... Unfortunately only taking off the cover will let you know the truth!
