So I dropped my laptop and busted the screen. No big deal, ordered the correct screen and installed it. BUt upon starting it up I get this-
The jumbled screen looks similar to the old lcd, but different patterns. I have to say diagnosing issues for me is usually just replacing parts. I did remove, lightly clean the lcd cable with no change. I'd order a new cable but they are $30 and up. I did try to see if the cable had a break or contacts had a speck of something on it but no luck so far.
Hesitant to fire the parts cannon any more on it, as a newer version is on the way, and I'll just swap the memory and bigger ssd in it. But I would like to revive the old one if anyone has any ideas.

You are correct. The screen has some cracks in it. When a friend of mine looked at the screen, he said the same.Had I not unpacked it myself and saw that picture, I should have said the same thing.
I took a much closer look and found cracks barely visible at an extreme angle. Fortunately I had bought it from Amazon, so a replacement should be on the way.
