I did receive a call from an HP representative.  We discussed the issue and my laptop being out of warranty.  I am satisfied that HP followed up.

HP did follow through with the forum when they said I would be contacted via phone.  The representative I spoke with was kind, honest and did offer to resolve my issue to the best of her ability.

I was able to voice my thoughts and the representative listened and was very nice.

I commented often about HP not following through so in the spirit of being fair I did want to state that HP did follow up as they said they would.  Thank you.

HP finally called me and did the "it's outta warranty" song and dance. I ended the call frustrated, as I already knew it was out of warranty -- that didn't help at all.

I ended up emailing back my feelings that with this being such a widespread issue that it's got to be a design flaw.

So frustrated that this issue is arrising again from HP after going through such an issue a few years back for the same exact problem.

I am done with HP products. Never again!

I Work for HP

@Omar-E,
What I and probably the rest of everyone on this forum do not understand is why HP just says there is something specifically wrong with this laptop model. And for it to happen just after the warranty expires. This is not okay. I have other laptops that are older than this HP model and nothing like this has ever happened and the laptops still work. This is a poorly made laptop and HP should recalled it a long time ago. They should have offered replacements or repairs at a deeply discounted price. I have laptop that's been sitting for at least a year and if I want to work again I have to go and pay someone $200 to $300 for a repair. This is not fair to the consumer and highly frustrating!

No more HP for me either. I have a G60 laptop sitting in my basement with the screen hanging off.  I also have a 15t that is starting to break at the hinge. it's a little under 3 years old and is under warranty through Costco and AMEX. But it does no good, you get a run around. I call the authorized HP service and they tell you they can't fix it. this is a 1000 dollar machine that is under warranty and all you get is the shaft. Well just before the 15t started binding up, I had bought a new 17t. I can return it to Costco within 90 days of purchase, anybody care to guess what I'm going to do? Here's the real kicker, both of the faulty laptops I own were purchased after HP had a recall for this problem in 2008. So here we are, 9 years after HP had a recall on this very issue and it is so prevailant that there is a class action suit at Classaction.com. I already jumped onboard. i'll be returning my 17t in a couple days. Good bye HP.

i just want to add that these laptops that i unfortunatly own, have never seen any kind of rough handling. They never leave the house, There are no kids so it is just us. We are not students like it says we are 60 years old and retired. They hardly ever get closed and opened, maybe a couple times a week. I mean they are just crap. and the way HP has not stepped up and owned their problem for at least the last 9 years is just disgracefull. And one of mine is under warranty still but they just screw you around till you give up. I'm glad I have one I can return, that's gonna feel good. Oh by the way it's Classaction .org. Just search on the HP hinge suit.
