The L48405-001 part the OP asked about was for the base enclosure instead of the original back cover part number request.

Thanks to @Erico I was able to identify and purchase the correct replacement part. As it turned out, I needed the black mesh finish, not the jet black finish, but the answer was otherwise correct. The following Youtube videos were great helps in doing the actual maintenance:

It was a huge pain and took a few hours, but I was successful and now have a properly working laptop again.

In case anyone is interested, here's the old "top" on top of the new one. The display attaches with 3 screws per hinge. On the left, the corner is completely gone (2 screws) and the 3rd screw hole is about to tear off; and on the right two of the metal screw holes had fallen out and were just rattling around in the case!
