I installed my OS onto a blank HDD connected to my laptop and found all required drivers except one, the USB port drivers. I tried it manually, through HP's helpful list of drivers required for every device, found it and installed it, with no effect. I set Windows Update to Auto to find it, It didn't. Do I have to enter BIOS? Are the ports malfunctioning? The crazy thing is that 1/3 ports work.

Hi:
You will need the AMD Chipset drivers, which will install the usb 3 controllers.
Download and install the second file listed on the webpage. Then restart the PC.

You're very welcome.
I looked up the specs for your notebook, saw it has an AMD processor and chipset, and I know that HP does not include the AMD chipset driver on any of the notebook support pages.
The only place you can get it is from AMD.
