There are both Intel and NVidia graphics drivers in my laptop, and I've been trying to find out whether to accept a graphics driver update that the Intel Driver Support Assistant keeps offering. Intel's details confirm that this update is compatible with my processor, but I've been reading around the subject here, and understand that if we have 2 linked graphics drivers, this Intel update can cause problems with the non Intel one.
I'm reasonably tech minded, know about creating a restore point before doing this kind of thing, and am comfortable with tinkering with computers. But after buying this laptop last summer it was promptly banjaxed by a forced Windows update, it took me months to get it usable again, and life's too short to spend more any more time troubleshooting because of an update I might not need! And Microsoft wants me to install a fairly major Windows update, I like to update drivers first, and I only have this one left to decide about.
So 3 simple (I hope!) questions;
1. Does having 2 graphics drivers always mean they're linked?
2. Does HP have its own version of Intel's Graphics - Windows 10 DCH Drivers (the update that Intel is offering)? If so, what's the date of the latest one? (I can't check for myself on the HP website, as it stopped listing new drivers etc for my laptop about 6 months ago).
3. I don't stream TV or movies, do any gaming or video editing (or play lengthy ones in the computer). Would this update even have any advantage for me?
In case it helps, the 2 items under Graphics in the Devices and Drivers that Intel detects in my laptop are NVidia GeForce MX150 and Intel UHD Graphics 620 (in that order; I don't know if that matters).
