Dear,
I bought a HP 14" Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 1080p (model # 14-DF0023CL). It has a 4 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB). I would like to add a 4GB DDR-4-2666 SDRAM into the empty RAM slot.
Does this laptop hardware support both 2400 and 2666Mhz RAM modules working together?
I hope adding a RAM module is not that difficult. Just open the bottom cover and put it in the empty RAM slot, right?
Thank you very much in advance.

The Manual links are down right now or I would link you to the Service Manual. Your i3-8130U processor system is designed to run DDR4-2400 and two such modules will run in dual channel mode. A 4 GB DDR4-2666 module would very likely work and downclock to match the existing module but no one can provide you any assurance of that.
The Manuals should be available shortly but here is a picture of the inside and you are correct it is just a matter of removing the rear cover and putting a module in the empty slot:

Here is a Youtube. Be careful with the rubber strip not to stretch it out:
