Product: HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0034
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I'm trying to swap my current samsung 128gb m.2 sata to a WD 1tb m.2 nvme with failure. I've tried acronis true image and macrium reflect to clone the ssd but haven't been successful. I'm getting a inaccessible boot error. Is this a motherboard issue? Please help.

You have to use SATA drive, not NVMe.

I was reading into that but it seemed ok. It’s a m.2 interface on the motherboard not an m+b for a sata. However, it did have a sata in it. The motherboard recognizes the new drive in bios.

If you can get into safe mode on the clone, the problem is likely with the status of a cloned storage controller driver  in Windows that is expecting sata. You could try tinkering with it in Device Manager or startup options in Safe Mode.  Or install Windows from scratch on the new drive.
