GOOD DAY,
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 14-FQ0022OD LAPTOP WHICH ONLY HAS AN INTERNAL HARD DRIVE AS PART OF THE MOTHERBOARD AND NOT RECOGNIZABLE AS A HARD DRIVE OF ABOUT 54G!
I HAD TO FREE UP A LOT OF SPACE JUST TO UPGRADE WIN10. I WANT TO UPGRADE TO WIN11 BUT I WANT MORE MEMORY!
I WANT TO ADD A REMOVABLE SSD HD.
UPON OPENING THE LAPTOP, THERE IS NO REPLACEABLE HDD, BUT APPARENTLY A SLOT FOR A "CRUCIAL P5" TYPE SSD HD.
CAN I ADD A SSD TO THIS LAPTOP? ALL THE VIDEOS SHOW THIS LAPTOP ALREADY HAVING A SSD HD! MINE HAS NONE!
ALSO, ALL THE VIDEOS ON UPGRADING THIS LAPTOP SHOW 2 RAM SLOTS AND THIS MODEL ONLY HAS ONE! WHAT ARE THE SPECS FOR A SINGLE RAM MEMORY?
ANY HELP IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED!
SINCERELY,
DAVE

Hi:
Yes, you can add a M.2 SSD to the PC, but it has to be a SATA one not NVMe.
Many folks on this forum have tried a NVMe SSD in the slot and it doesn't work.
For example:

You will find many posts regarding that issue with the 14-fq0xxx notebooks that come with the 64 GB eMMC drive.
I recommend one of the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SATA SSD's which seem to have the best performance for the price.
This is the 500 GB model, for example:
Your notebook can support an 8 GB DDR4-3200 memory chip that will run at 2400 MHz.

HI PAUL, THANKS FOR THE HELP!
ALSO,HOW DO I CLONE WIN10 TO THE NEW DRIVE AS THE OP SYSTEM IS INTERNAL? I'VE NEVER HAD TO CLONE A HD FROM A SYSTEM THAT HAD NON-REMOVABLE INTERNAL OS. ALWAYS HAD AN "ACTUAL HARD" DRIVE TO WORK WITH.
AGAIN, THANKS FOR THE INFO AND HELP.
SINCERELY,
DAVE

You're very welcome, Dave.
You would need cloning software that has the option to clone from a smaller hard drive to a larger one.
You may just want to make a bootable USB recovery drive with the cloud recovery tool that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new SSD.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will also need a 32 GB USB flash drive.

You will need to remove Windows from the 64 GB eMMC drive or the notebook will always want to boot from that drive first.
You can use the 64 GB eMMC drive for extra storage.
