Have same , HP 15-ba009dx , AMD A6-7310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics, wondering if it would be upgradeable to 32 GB of memory . Is it at all possible ? Note : using the DDR3 , wondering also if it would be possible when I upgrade , if the DDR 4 3200 2 @ 16 GB would work ? Maybe?

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Thanks for reaching out! I understand you're looking to upgrade the RAM in your HP 15-ba009dx, which is powered by the AMD A6-7310 APU with AMD Radeon R4 Graphics. Here's what you need to know:
1. RAM Upgradeability to 32 GB:
Your laptop supports DDR3L memory (low voltage DDR3), and its maximum supported memory is 16 GB (2x8GB), not 32 GB, due to the limitations of both the APU and the motherboard.
2. DDR3 vs DDR4 Compatibility:
Your current laptop uses DDR3L memory, and unfortunately, DDR4 RAM is not compatible with this system. The AMD A6-7310 APU and the laptop's motherboard are designed specifically for DDR3L, meaning DDR4 memory will not work in this configuration, even if the speed is 3200 MHz.
3. Upgrading to 16 GB of DDR3L:
You can upgrade your RAM to 16 GB (2 x 8 GB modules of DDR3L 1600 MHz), which is a good option if you're looking for more memory, but keep in mind that the maximum supported speed for DDR3L in this model is 1600 MHz (even if the RAM you purchase is rated higher, the system will downclock aka 'bridge' it).
4. Final Recommendation:
To maximize your system's memory:
- Upgrade to 16 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz (2 x 8 GB).
- 32 GB DDR3L is not possible with this laptop due to hardware limitations.
If you decide to upgrade, I recommend checking your current RAM configuration (number of slots in use) and the specific maximum RAM support by consulting your laptop's user manual or HP's support page for more details.
Let me know if you need any more guidance or have further questions!
Kind Regards,
