My laptop's temperature are very abnormal .
This is at no load
This is the tempearture when i OPEN youtube (no video running in background at all).
I just got it cleaned a week ago , applied the thermal paste again ,nothing blocking my vents , all cleared in my task manager.
Everything is perfect.
My laptop is cleaned and proceesor not clcoked .
while gaming (light gaming like counter strike source) the fps has huge drops like bormal its 60-70 and it drops to 20 in 5 seconds with large fan sound in that interval and then after 5 seconds all good again .
i checked my temperature using 3 different softwares and the result were all same .
it showed a 99 degree ceslius while the laptop wasn't even hot to touch like my other laptop .
The main problem is that the temperature are like 99 degress with no load and the fan louds itself up which is normal but after 5 seconds it drops to 55 degrees .I checked my task manager no programs running in background I even turned off Windows defenderbut same result.
I think maybe the problem is in my hardware that identifies the tempearture and makes it look 99 degrees which in actual it isn't.
But i got it checked while dust cleaning and the results are all the same.
Please help.

Thanks for your reply.
As @Barachiel is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.
I have reviewed the previous posts and all possible steps have been attempted by you already. I truly appreciate your patience and efforts. I'm afraid the evidence points towards a hardware issue with the laptop. It is recommended to get this laptop repaired by contacting HP phone support or HP service center.
Hope this works out.
Good luck! 🙂

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
The Barachiel is at your service.
I understand you are in need of support,
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
When was the last time it worked without these issues?
Did you run a hardware test on the computer using the F2 key during a restart?
Did you try to update the bios?
In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:
I have a few recommendations:
-
Updating your Notebook computer BIOS
-
Keeping notebook air vents clear and clean
-
Increasing the efficiency of the notebook to reduce heat
-
Using Windows Task Manager to identify corrupt processes
-
Selecting power saves settings to shut off your computer when it is not in use
For more details: Click here
Let me know how that pans out.
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,

The laptop's pretty old now and it was working fine before when I was using it in my college . After graduating I stopped using it for 2 months . I have been addressing the issue since then .
Laptop's model is dv4-5009TX
No i will run the hardware tests now and update you with the results.
The bios are already updated (last bios update was a long ago from HP though )
Updated my windows .
Got the laptop cleaned and changed thermal compound .
And yes I always open task manager when I switch on my laptop to terminate some startup programs.
Updated all my drivers using driver booster .
Actually can it be that the hardware that identifies the temperature might be faulty because the time when it shows a 99 degrees its still not hot to touch .(like my other pavilion g4).

It looks like you were interacting with @Barachiel, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out, I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service (Like a Genie without magic powers) 😉
I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:
You may right to say that the temperature detector isn't working as it should, however, if it is, it would be a rare scenario as it usually never does such a thing, that said, I recommend you follow the steps on this Youtube video to resolve the issues related to heat on the device: https://hp.care/2K99hC1 ( for steps on this link: https://hp.care/2JTBqg1 )
If the issue persists or you continue to have trouble with incorrect temperature display, I suggest you update the BIOS, Chipset and graphics card drivers using this link: https://hp.care/2B3MVQS
If none of the above works, please Contact HP to resolve the issue:
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
1) Click on this link - https://hp.care/2moMFSc
2) Click on "Continue as guest".
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.
