Hi@Resistancia I want to upgrade my laptop which has 8GB RAM s that means 4+4. But for the better multitasking and gaming options, I'm going to buy a budget friendly 16 GB ram. The brand known as Pusskill. I will choose 16GB ddr4 ram. Then it will be 4+16 GB. Do you recommend it for me?

Hi @Thejana-pasindu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are looking for information related to upgrading your Laptop.
Upgrading your laptop to 20GB of RAM (4GB + 16GB) can definitely enhance multitasking and gaming performance. However, mixing different RAM sizes can sometimes lead to performance issues, especially if the RAM modules have different speeds or timings.
Here are a few things to consider:
Compatibility: Ensure that the new 16GB RAM is compatible with your laptop's motherboard and the existing 4GB module. Check the specifications for supported RAM speeds and configurations on your device.
Dual Channel: Ideally, RAM should be installed in pairs for optimal performance (e.g., 8GB + 8GB). With 4GB + 16GB, you may not fully utilize dual-channel memory for the entire capacity, which could slightly impact performance.
Brand Quality: While Pusskill might be budget-friendly, ensure it has good reviews and a reliable warranty. Brand reputation can affect long-term stability and performance.
Future Upgrades: Consider whether you might want to upgrade further down the line. If your laptop supports it, you could look for another 16GB stick in the future for a total of 32GB.
Overall, if the RAM is compatible and you’re okay with the potential for slightly lower performance in dual-channel mode, it should be a worthwhile upgrade.Welcome to the HP Support Community.
