No matter what I do, I can't seem to use the fingerprint sensor. I updated BIOS, installed Client Security, updated drivers, downgraded drivers, unchecked/checked fingerprint sensor in the BIOS. Nothing works. It is recognized, but it won't activate. I can click the option to register fingerprint, but the sensor doesnt give any information  it seems like. How do I fix this? Is there a way to test for sure if it's a hardware issue before having to open it up? The sensor is not particularly easy to reach...

Updated fingerprint sensor driver:

sp96234.exe

Description / Information

sp96234.cva

sp96234.html

Before changing anything (more than you have), make sure you can log into your computer using other than the fingerprint reader.

Download and save the new fingerprint reader software.

Remove the driver (uninstall) the reader driver from the Device Manager

Open Device Manager > Biometrics > Right-Click Properties > Uninstall

Open File Explorer

Navigate to the folder in which you saved the downloaded fingerprint software package (Downloads)

Double-tap on the installation package to install the software.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

The things I have described before were all reversible and I only did them logically and separately (so in the end I have not changed more than I should have, only updated). As I have been unable to even activate the fingerprint sensor for years in order to even register a fingerprint, it is no issue for me to log in with my normal password. I have already tried uninstalling the drivers and installing updated drivers though, but to no avail.

Understood.

If the fingerprint login has never worked - or not worked for years - the latest driver might have had an impact, though it does appear the situation is more convoluted.

If I have anything else to offer, I will post back.

Good Luck.
