I have an old (5 years) laptop. The laptop works well but currently, I am facing an adapter issue. The computer doesn't charge properly with the current adapter. Is it possible to buy a new adapter for an old model laptop that works like before?

Below is the link to the parts list for your notebook:
The power adapter part number and description is:
741553-850 | Smart AC power adapter (45 watt) - 4.5mm barrel connector, non-power factor correcting (NFPC) - Requires separate 3-wire AC power cord with C5 connector |
What I recommend you do is to go on eBay do a search by the HP power adapter part number and find a used but tested and working genuine HP power adapter. Those usually come with the power cords that go from the wall socket to the adapter.

I attached a photo of my current adapter background configuration and the eBay shop link. Would you please suggest, which one is better for my laptop?

It appears from your screenshot that the 65W power adapter you have has the following part number: 854055-001
There is no list of PC's that part number is used in.
I 'd go with the least expensive genuine HP power adapter on the eBay link you posted that references the part number in your notebook's parts list: 741553-850
