I just purchased this laptop for my wife along with an additional 2.5" HDD to expand its storage. However after browsing some videos and information on the board setup I am not sure it will work. It does not seem to come with either the cradle or a SATA cable to connect the harddrive to the motherboard. Would I be better off returning the 2.5" and getting a larger M.2 to replace the current one in the system?

Its specs

The series does not support dual storage therefore no slot for 2.5" HDD/SSD. It is much better to return the 2.5" drive and buy a larger (capacity) M.2 NVMe SSD drive. Please use same brand of the existing drive (I believe it is a Samsung drive) or

Or similar from reputable vendors.
One example (compatible drive, can use smaller/larger capacity)
