HP ENVY - 15t-as100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

How do you open the card slot to add a sound card to an ENVY TE01-5147 desktop.  I found the release but the slot cover seems to be all one piece--i.e. a single slot cannot be opened up.  Does the slot cover have to be pried loose somehow or is there a "hidden" trick release?  I've searched all over the internet to no avail.  Thank you for any help you may provide.

Take a look at this video:

HP M01 F1114 Tear Down Disassemble

If this looks like yours, those individual PCIe expansion slot covers appear to be tack welded to the chassis in that they would have to be snapped off from the rear of the PC.

He shows how to do it at about 14:15 into the video.

No doubt you will need to use a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers and work the slot filler you want to remove back and forth until it breaks off from the chassis and be very careful because those edges will be sharp.

Thank you.  That is exactly what i was in doubt of happening.  Although that case is a Dell it is almost exactly like the HP.  I think it is a pretty Mickey Mouse way of doing things.  Guess they saved $0.05 by doing that.  Thanks again.
