I see this question has only been asked once so i want to confirm the answer given...is this model able to upgrade to an ssd drive or add one in addition to the current 1TB 5400rpm drive it currently has?? Also if it is dual drive compatible can the 5400rpm drive be upgraded to an 7200rpm drive as well?

Don't know what answer you got before but my answer based on the service manual is that you can have both a 2.5 inch hard drive, 5400rpm, 7200rpm or a 2.5 inch SSD in one bay and then also an M.2 SATA 2280 disk located above the battery in the rectangle shown in this picture:

hard drive to left of battery, M.2 in rectanglehard drive to left of battery, M.2 in rectangle

Your Manual

So you have several options. Post back if you want help locating product to install (tell us the country you live in) or have any other questions but please Accept as Solution if this is the answer you needed.

Yes i would like help locating the accurate compatible drives and know if the ssd has a GB limit as in could this configuration support both 1TB 7200/7500rpm HDD as well as the M.2 SATA 2280 1TB
HP Recommended

There is no 7500 rpm drive but you could install a 7200 rpm drive. And yes you can install a 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD. Need to know where you live (country) to find a place for you to buy. I think honestly if you plan to install the OS on the SSD there is no point in buying a different hard drive. The 5400 rpm drive will be fine for storage.

Your reply generated a question: in this laptop what double Ssd setup would you recommend for OS and Storage?
HP Recommended

I think a 512 gig SSD for the OS and the 1 TB original 5400 rpm for storage is as much disk space as anyone should need in the days of cloud computing.

Thank you very much for taking the time to lend your expertise...I really appreciate it.....

I know this is an old thread, but do you know which interface that M.2  uses?  Will an NVMe drive work, or must it be SATA?

Which exact model do you have? The devil may be in the details.
