HP Pavilion Gaming 15-dk10000 Laptop PC (8WQ69AV)

Hello,
I have a 38R99EA Pavilion Gaming 15-dk1023nl laptop and i want to add 8gb of RAM and possibly a SATA SSD to the open slot, but i was wondering compatibility between the RAM sticks that are already in place since factory.

I would appreciate some help for clarity and to understand how i can find compatible pieces.

From what i've understood the PC runs SDRAM DDR4-2933 - 8 GB as 2x4GB, so i sould only buy other sticks that are DDR4 and have 2933 MHz?
While for the SSD what limitations do i have? Only that it has to be SATA?

Thanks,
Lorenzo.

You're very welcome.

Any compatible DDR4 memory chip should work.

Just make sure that the DDR4-3200 memory chip has a CL22 timing specification.

I'm like 99% sure that since your notebook did not come with a 2.5" SATA drive none of the parts are there.

But the only way to be 100% sure is to remove the bottom cover and have a look.

Hi, Lorenzo:

Most folks install DDR4-3200 MHz memory and that will automatically bridge to 2933 Mhz.

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the maximum memory is 2 x 16 GB, but the Crucial memory report is almost always correct.

Adding a 2.5" SATA drive is not as simple as you may think, and it may be easier to replace the 512 GB M.2 NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.

Most likely none of the parts will be there to install a 2.5" drive so you will have to find and buy the parts listed in chapter 3 of the service manual to install a 2.5" drive and the bracket to secure the drive is not available for purchase.

Thanks for the clarification.

Any DDR4-3200 MHz goes or should i stick to the Compaq one?

As for the SATA, is there a way to see if those parts are included or the easiest way is to open the PC?
