Pavilion 15-p042nb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

The HP Pavilion 15-p042nb has default 1x8GB 1600 Mhz DDR3L SDRAM installed.

I would like to upgrade to 16GB RAM.

The support pages do not indicate what is possible. Is a second slot availaible? And what is de maximum RAM for my laptop?

Thank you.

Here's the Manual:

Manual

See p. 3. There are two slots. Officially, it can take 4 + 8 or 12 gigs but there is a lot of anecdotal evidence it will run 16 gigs or 8 + 8 of DDR3L-1600

See p. 122 for a good picture of the 2 memory slots. The really bad news is that to access the memory slots you must tear it down to the point of removing the motherboard. Beyond the skills of anything but an experienced electronics technician. The AMD A4 processor is not very powerful and you are likely trying to speed it up but even if you installed 16 gigs it will still be slow.
