Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to add SSD to the 2016 hp omen laptop?

Your notebook is OMEN by HP Laptop PC - 15-ax009na (ENERGY STAR)

Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05357609

See page 5, 41

You can add M.2 2280 SATA or NVMe PCIe, TLC SSD, in addition to HDD

I'll go for M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, it is a storm compared to SATA SSD.

Dual drive support is there.

Should not be a problem. The Maintenance manual:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05357609

p. 22 specifies 3 different parts but I'm sure more are compatible and you can probably find the same parts by the original manufacturer cheaper somewhere else by a little use of Google.

Just shy away from the Samsung 960 Evo until you  find that the issues have been cleared. Best to google with the HP part numbers and read the discussions a bit.
