dv6-1120ep
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a very old dv6-1120ep which I wanted to use for a network shared drive with backups. I used a SATA connector from a simillar model and had it welded to the place where the second SATA connector is on the dv7 models but it doesn't even send power to the disks when I plug them.

I belive the bios is not recognising the second sata connector.

IS there anything I can do to make the second connector be detected?

For example instal a different BIOS version from a dv7 model on the dv6 motherboard?

Best regards

I know many 17" machines have room for a second HDD but I have not heard older generayions of 15" (15.6") machines including DV6 machines have more than one room for HDD. There are few cheap NAS options such as:

     https://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/network-attached-storage/home-network/personal-cloud/#specs

     https://www.cnet.com/topics/storage/best-hard-drives-and-storage/best-mobile-wireless-drives/

     https://www.qnap.com/en-au/product/ts-251a/specs/hardware  (more expensive)

Regards.

As far as I know only dv7 have the 2 connectors as only these uave the second bay to house the extra disk.

As I stated the second SATA connector was welded to the board. It didn't come from factory.

The NAS aren't what I'm looking for as I inted to use the laptop for other things as well but thank you for the sugestion.

Regards
