I have HP Pavilion Gaming 15-cx0811no with fast 256GB m.2 NVME SSD.

Im going to upgrade RAM kits to 2 x 8 GB (16 GB) and all that is clear.

I would also like to have bigger SSD. Adding a second one would be nicer than upgrading the old.

I opened my laptop and read the long manual.

There is space for 2.5" HDD (JHDD1 port) and that can be also used for SSD, says the forum.

Some special cables and docks might be needed for this. That is fine.

I would like to know how fast can data transfer through that port? So I can get the right SSD. Also I need to know what kind of SSD will work, or does it matter?

These photos are not by me, but they look just like mine.

It's a SATA port. A SATA hard drive connected to that port might have read speed 150 mbps and a SATA SSD would read at up to say 550 mbps. An NVME M.2 will transfer at up to 3500 mbps. But you cannot attach any kind of NVME drive through the zif port you ask about.

@MaaKii

It is a NORMAL SATA 3 port. No more, no less. Any standard 2.5" SATA SSD should work but many people use Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860EVO .
