HP PartSurfer indicates your model comes with a Samsung 512 GB NVMe gen 4x4. If you click on the 'Photo' icon, you can see the drive's product number 'MZVL2512HCJQ-00BH1.'
This website reports your OEM Samsung NVMe runs at 6069/2785 read/write MB/s.

The link in your reply shows A Kingston 2 TB NVMe gen 4x4 you've just ordered has impressive specs: max 7000/7000 MB/s.
If you want to get the most out of the Kingston NVMe, you can possibly replace the Samsung drive with the Kingston and move the Samsung to the second slot and use it for data storage. You need to install the OS on the Kingston, and this is some extra work you have to do, so this is just a thought. . .

Yes, I was thinking about this. Iit would require cloning so I will need to use an external HDD/USB stick, etc..
I think I have them somewhere in my cabinet...
Will see, maybe I will do the swap between the SSDs.
The process is well described here

If you install the Kingston drive in the second slot and cloning software on the Samsung drive detects the Kingston, I think you can do the cloning work. After that you can simply swap the two drives.
If you feel to install Windows freshly on the Kingston, you can use HP Cloud Recovery Tool that creates a bootable recovery usb drive that installs Windows, all necessary drivers and HP software and tools.
You need a 32 GB usb drive, and the recovery tool needs to be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Once the recovery usb drive is created, you can swap the two drives and boot from the usb drive to install Windows and others on the Kingston. See this link for more info.

Good luck on upgrading.

just to summarize after the installation
1. yes, the laptop d-0028ur is equipped with a spare SSD slot
2. I have installed the Kingston SSD in the spare slot which is Gen3
3. no, Samsung cloning software did not recognize the Kingston
4. Windows as well did not want to see the new SSD (however BIOS did). So, I made Win recognize Kingston manually
Thank you everybody for your advice and help!
