Hi @ahmt_93,

As I understand you are having issues with the USB port not working on your HP notebook. However, you have tried to update the Bios and chipset drivers, which did not help to fix the issue. You have already tried to update the drivers and still having the issue.

I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP PCs - Troubleshooting USB Connections (Windows 10, 😎

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would suggest you perform a Push button reset on the notebook - Windows 10 has a push-button reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This can be done either while preserving your personal data and customizations, or removing all your personal data.

If the issue persists, I would suggest the last resort would be to perform a system recovery using the partition available on your PC. Doing this will wipe off everything and set the computer back to the original factory conditions. So, please remember to back up your data before initiating system recovery. If for some reason the recovery fails. The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

HP PCs - Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive

Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. If your product is out of warranty, please choose paid options to get the tech support number.

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

Hi @ahmt_93,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with the mouse not working after the recent update. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the exact model of the PC? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Are you indicating that the touchpad on the notebook is not working or wired USB mouse not working?

Have you tried to update the Bios?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Update the Bios, Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to restart the computer and tap on F10 during restart, once on BIOS screen, move the mouse cursor around to check if it works normally,

If it does, it would confirm a software issue and you follow the below steps if it doesn't work on its a hardware failure and I would suggest a touchpad replacement.

I recommend you to uninstall any generic synaptic drivers showing up for the touchpad (if available) under hidden devices from the device manager:

  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.

  • At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

  • Type the following command a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

start devmgmt.msc

  • Troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager.
NOTE: Click Show hidden devices on the View menu in Device Manager before you can see devices that are not connected to the computer.

  • When you finish troubleshooting, close Device Manager.

  • Type exit at the command prompt.

Note that when you close the command prompt window, Window clears the devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 variable that you set in step 2 and prevents ghosted devices from being displayed when you click Show hidden devices.

And then download a new version of the synaptic drivers using this link: Click here

For additional information on USB, please follow this link: HP PCs - Troubleshooting USB Connections (Windows 10, 😎

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Firstly, Thank you for your interest. My computer model is HP-Pavilion 15 Notebook PC serial number; 5cd5075vql. Also the touchpad is working. On my computer mouse no USB device is not working. I tried to update the BIOS, but it didn't work. the new update to the technical service they said it was my computer drive and chipettes conflict. I wrote my problem in this forum then me. Suggest to you, Your the only one I did, but it still doesn't work inconclusive. Also appearing in the Device Manager previously 'HID-Compliant mouse driver doesn't seem it anymore and went after a Windows Update 10. There is a problem in Device Manager with no driver. However, the hard reset, I did update the BIOS and chipset, still not. at the opening of the computer when I test the mouse, the USB mouse is working but unfortunately it does not work when the computer is turned on. Before I forget, all drive so I installed the latest versions of window 10, and they're all current. I'm waiting for your suggestions on what I should do.
