HP LAPTOP 15-DW0037WM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased the HP LAPTOP 15-DW0037WM for my daughter for college. She's already cracked the screen, but the replacement part, L52000-001 (LCD RAW PANEL 15.6'INCH HD BV SVA 220) is only available through a couple of sellers on Ebay and one of Amazon that are charging almost $200. She got a quote from Geek Squad for $400 for the full repair. The laptop itself only cost $400. I'm thinking they're just taking advantage of the fact that this replacement screen model hasn't really hit the market yet?

Is it possible to swap out for another HP brand or compatible 15.6" screen and if so, what models would be compatible. I'm much more concerned that she has a functional laptop over having a high quality screen.

Thanks in advance if you're able to help!

@J_Brown1,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

According to the product specifications it shows that your notebook has been shipped with 15.6" diagonal HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit (1366 x 768) Display.

In order to check the compatibility, I would recommend you go through the Maintenance and service guide of your notebook.

Please note the parts listed here are the ones which have been tested and are compatible on your notebook.

Chapter 1. Product Description page number 1 & 2.

Chapter 3. Illustrated parts catalog - Page number 19 & 20.

Please note, these are the parts which are tested on your PC, If you wish to try other parts you can try it at your own discretion, HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance.

Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Partsurfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here).

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead!

This is the HP Part number you need:

HD, BrightView, non-touch L52000-001

Service Manual

Pages 54-62 show how to replace the screen but if you really want to do this post back and specifically ask as this shows how to remove the whole screen from hinges up and that is more work than you need to do. I have replaced dozens maybe a couple hundred laptop screens. Just recently replaced the QHD screen on my son's Omen and HP wanted over $300 for the screen and I picked it up on ebay for $99. 15 minute repair.

This is likely the most common laptop screen being made right now. Hp will charge some crazy price for it while 3rd party sellers have it much cheaper.

Kind of moot as HP does not have it in stock at the Parts Store. Even if you search by HP Part number on eBay it is not inexpensive:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HP-P-N-L52000-001-Display-15-6-HD-LCD-LED-Screen-Non-Touch/123867162447...

However, what we see is its a 30 pin bottom right 15.6 inch LED screen (narrow edge).

This is the same product at a much lower price.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/15-6-HD-LAPTOP-LCD-Screen-for-Lenovo-Ideapad-S340-15API-81NC-Narrow-Edge-30...

Don't worry it says Lenovo.
